Our Story

CLC Over 70 Years in the Making

Christian Life Center’s first meeting was on August 14th, 1952, originally named First Assembly of God, in Layton Utah. It was held in the home of Bob and Ruth Pfaender with Lily Strayer pastoring with eleven people in attendance. Five months later, they moved to a rented building at 100 Main Street. Property then was purchased on Golden Ave in 1958. Many leaders served faithfully as Pastor’s over the next 25 years including Rev. Craig, Lily Strayer, Rev. Weaver, Rev. Royer, and Rev. Mohn.

.
In May of 1986, Pastor Myke Crowder was elected and began his first Sunday with 90 in attendance. New ground was broken for an ever-expanding ministry, on Sept. 27, 1987, and the first service in the new building, now our Children’s Center, was held on June 5th 1988 with over 400 in attendance. As the church grew, the opportunity to begin a school came about and Layton Christian Academy was opened in 1993. Under the leadership of Pastor Crowder and Greg Miller in 1994, our school would grow on today to have over 600 students in attendance from all over the world.

In 2005, The Family Life Center, where services are held now, would open allowing many more opportunities for the school to advance in athletics and grow. In addition this would allow the ministry of Christian Life Center to expand in many ways. Today, CLC has thriving ministries to our community, like Love My City Project, Iglesia CLC our Spanish ministry, powerful kids and youth ministries and an ever-growing community of life groups. CLC has also often been the host of many concerts including artists like Lauren Daigle, Newsboys, Big Daddy Weave, and speakers like Lysa Terkuerst. Through all the years, ultimately this has pointed to our desire create connection, build community, make disciples and to Love God, Love People and Reach the World for Jesus Christ
